The WJCL holds their state convention from January 31st to February 2nd at the Park hotel in Madison. State convention is best described as a long weekend where sleep deprived teenagers come together to show their love of the classics through cheering, test taking, playing intense rounds of certamen, pieing their officers, creating art, playing chess, shooting war machines, participating in embarrassing challenges, showing off their costumes, and a myriad of other activities. |
The Wisconsin Junior Classical League (WJCL) is a chapter of the National Junior Classical League. The purpose of the WJCL is to promote classics and obtain a better understanding of the modern world through the study of the ancient civilizations of ancient Rome and Greece. The WJCL participates in certamen, spirit, ludi, and rigorous test taking. From buzzing two words into a question during a round of certamen to cheering as loud as humanly possible, there is something for everyone in the WJCL.
